[Q] Are you a Sunbury local?

[A] I was born in Sunbury then moved away for awhile when I was 12. I always knew we’d come back here to raise a family. There’s a feeling of this historic, small country town yet you have all cafes and restaurants, cinemas and sports centres as well as all schools, shops and day to day essentials. We know so many people who grew up here and are now coming back to the area. Once you get a taste for Sunbury it stays with you.

[Q] What put Kingsfield on your radar?

[A] We’ve been looking for a house and land option and once we went into the Kingsfield office/display we stopped looking. They met everything on our wish list.

[Q] What the best thing about living here?

[A] I’d give equal weight to the open spaces and the sense of community. We love that the kids will be playing with the kids down the street just like we did when we grew up here.

[Q] Were the sustainable initiatives at Kingsfield a factor in your decision to purchase?

[A] Actually, we just fell in love with the neighbourhood and the outdoor spaces. The sustainable aspects were an added bonus and it feels great to know the community here will be part of a more environmentally conscious way of living.

[Q] What’s the shape of a typical weekend for you?

[A] Getting outdoors is a big part of our weekend. We’ve been bike riding with the kids and getting out to the local parks. There are some diverse areas to explore on foot or cycling.

[Q] Your local favourite?

[A] You can’t live in Sunbury and not know about Vic’s Food and Wine – it’s a local institution! On weekends we might take visitors to the local wineries for a treat.

[Q] Any tips for new purchasers?

[A] Do your homework and pick a trusted builder. We felt really confident buying at Kingsfield from Moremac, a well-known developer. Then we researched and took our time to really make sure we had a quality builder who ticked all the boxes.

[Q] Are you a Sunbury local?

[A] Michael has lived his whole life in the area. We married and decided to buy here as we both love the country feeling that defines the area. It’s incredible to have so many open green spaces all around us and the community is really welcoming – they all know each other and look out for each other!

[Q] What put Kingsfield on your radar?

[A] We heard it had opened and dropped in to the sales office, just to have a look. We had no intention whatsoever of buying and next minute we were choosing a land lot. We made the decision on the day.

[Q] What the best thing about living here?

[A] The green spaces everywhere are stunning but it’s also feeling part of the community here. We already know all our neighbours within a short space of time. It’s a really close-knit neighbourhood.

[Q] Were the sustainable initiatives at Kingsfield a factor in your decision to purchase?

[A] Absolutely. It’s great to know we are part of something that has a high level of environmental responsibility. We also received valuable advice before building, ensuring we included things like solar and lighter coloured roofing for heat reduction and all our appliances are energy star rated.

[Q] What’s the shape of a typical weekend for you?

[A] Going on long walks and watching the local footy usually factor in our weekends. There are so many open spaces to explore. We’ve lived here for some time now and we are still discovering new conservation areas and parks. With the house build finished we are also getting on with our next project, landscaping the garden most weekends!

[Q] Your local favourite?

[A] There are quite a few good cafés and restaurants making a name for themselves in the area so it’s difficult to choose but we really can’t go past Rice Scoop.

[Q] Any tips for new purchasers?

[A] If you are thinking of moving here... DO IT! We love it here – and by getting in early we’ve enjoyed being a part of the community as it develops. The Kingsfield team were really helpful and we felt like the whole transition was really smooth and easy.
